The most wonderful thing on Earth is its biodiversity. Biodiversity is a portmanteau sewing together of bio from biological and diversity. The world is full of living, breathing animals and living, photosynthesising plants. The rainforests are not green blobs, they are composed of real species with real names and real ecological niches. The wild places of Earth perhaps should not just be holiday destinations, places to gawp and be amazed. Can we have a more respectful view of biodiversity, in this, the biodiversity extinction crisis?
